And it's August...where did July go?!?!

Let's see...a week after Miss Ohio 2012 was crowned, Miss South Central Ohio Teen was crowned! I judged the pageant this year. Last year I helped to organize it. With Baby Claire, I wasn't sure how much time I'd have to devote to the pageant and girls. I'm on board and have been asked to be an assistant director for Miss SCO Teen!

Follow us on Facebook and on Twitter!

Then it was off to Florida for me and my familia! We spent one and a half wonderful weeks by the beach before I had to head back to work.

So, that's where July went! Work! This is my fourth week at my new job with the university. And I'm loving it. Did I all ready mention that I went into labor the day I was supposed to start this new job?! Makes for a good story!

Also, we decided to not hold Camp Sharp this year (sad, sad face). I had Claire in May and Stephanie got married in June. With our crazy schedules and only having six girls registered, we decided to save our energy and devote time to raising more funds and awareness for camp in 2013.

Let's see, what else...baby girl will be THREE months in two days! It's so hard to believe. Time truly does fly. Everyone says that and it's the truth. We always have the camera in her face taking video and pictures to capture all of those special moments. She's probably all ready sick and tired of the camera, sorry toots! Ha.

She stands now. Assisted standing, of course. Her dad supposedly stood when he was around 3 weeks old. They're over-achievers! Ha. She LOVES to talk to you (cooing and gurgling of course), laugh (scream/squeal) and smile! She likes music. She LOVES to be outside. She just discovered her doggie and likes to watch her run around the backyard. She sleeps! The other night we laid baby girl down between 10 and 10:30pm and she didn't wake up until after 9am the next morning! #ThankYouBabySleepGods

To round out the summer, over the next couple of weeks, we'll be visiting friends and family who are traveling to Ohio. Can't believe the first OSU football game is in 4 weeks! Wahoo!

I'm adding a pic from our vaca as well as baby's 1 month and 2 month photos!

Be blessed.

A new Miss Ohio was crowned two days ago! I can't believe there are now FIVE Miss Ohio's since I was honored to have the job. Whew...how time flies!

Congratulations to the newest sister, Miss Ohio 2012, Elissa McCracken! Congrats also to outgoing M.O., Ellen Bryan, on an outstanding and inspiring year of service!

The fam and I traveled to Mansfield last week for me to sing our National Anthem to kick-off the first night of prelims. I was honored to sing our countries song...and show off my little girl! I laughed when I looked at Steve holding lil Claire and he was surrounded by women!

That night Alissa Brumbaugh won the swimsuit prelim and Gabrielle Bailey won talent. I knew 10 seconds into Gabrielle's performance that she was going to win. I thought swimsuit was tied between Alissa and Angelica Francisco. I didn't have time to hop on the computer to watch Friday or Saturday...so I kept getting updates via text.

Friday nights winners were Heather Wells in swimsuit [No surprise! ;)] and Mahogeny Flemming in talent. A friend said Mahogeny's performance was "amazing!" Wish I could've heard it/seen it.

My guess for Top 10 were the following (in no order):

Tera Coleman
Alissa Brumbaugh
Elissa McCracken
Heather Wells
Gabrielle Bailey
Angelica Francisco
Layne Schneider
Ashley Warholic
Kristen Free
Jenna Fowls

I was right about 8 out of the 10...not too bad for being completely out of the loop since Baby!

The judges Top 10 were:

Coleman
Brumbaugh (1st runner-up)
McCracken (Miss Ohio 2012)
Wells
Bailey
Francisco (2nd runner-up)
Free (3rd runner-up)
Schneider
Hellwarth
Flemming (4th runner-up)

Lots of photos can be found HERE and HERE!

Here are a few photos we took during our visit...Baby girl's first Miss Ohio pageant!

Congrats to all the women who competed on the Miss Ohio stage last week. You all put on a fabulous show and should be proud of all your hard work. Know that if you didn't make the Top 10, try, try again. My first year of competition I didn't make the cut, the only thing I "won" was the "Show Us Your Shoe" contest! Don't give up! Congrats once again to our new M.O. Saturday night marked the beginning of a year you will NEVER forget!

I had a baby!

If you didn't all ready know via Facebook & Twitter, my husband & I expanded our family & welcomed a little girl FOUR weeks ago! Needless to say, life has been chaotic & my attention has been totally focused on our lil bundle of joy.

As many of you know, I work for a photographer who just happens to be a good friend, too. Hubs & I decided to have a "birth story" done while we were in labor & delivery. We didn't tell many people because we didn't want the judgements, but we are beyond happy that we followed through & used Crystal Jo Foto.

Here are a few photos she captured the night we welcomed our angel:

I'd also like to share the beautiful slideshow Crystal Jo created, click HERE to watch it. May or may not want to grab some tissues...

Of course we had to ask Crystal Jo to take our baby girl's newborn photos. This is what CJO caught when she was only nine days old:

The crocheted crown she's wearing was actually handmade by Karen of Hot off the Hook Crochet.  Karen is the mother of Mary (Krouse) Garrick. Mary & I competed at Miss Ohio when she was Miss Marion Popcorn Festival!

I've enjoyed every moment with her the past twenty-eight days, yes even the ones where I'm struggling to keep my eyes open. She has forever changed our lives & we really do wonder what we did before her. She's all ready changing every day. She has nicknames: Honey Bunny, Sweet Pea, Chunky Monkey, Milk Monster, Weezey (don't ask) & Scunchie (again, don't ask)!

We love her to pieces. Hope you enjoy the photos. I will share more soon.

As for life aside from my little baby...we plan to attend an evening of Miss Ohio prelims in a few weeks. I've been asked & am honored to sing the National Anthem one night...whew. Can't believe another Miss Ohio week will be upon us soon.

I think that's all the "updates" I have...& that's one big update. ;) Thanks for taking an interest. Blessings...

Yay! Thanks to my followers for 12,000 hits!

Even though I don't write as often, it's nice to see that number rise. It's nice to know there's someone out there watching! Smile.

Baby A is due "really any day now." Doctor's words exactly. But that's a loaded statement. That could mean in two days or twenty days! Our official due date is only twenty days away! *Gasp*

It feels like we just found out we're expecting, but at the same time the past 9 1/2 months have taken their sweet time. Did you know the "pregnancy marathon" is actually 10 months long?! Not those silly 9 months, like they say in the movies. Do the math, 40 weeks = 10 months. Not 9. Wonder who the genius is misleading all of us pregnant ladies! Kidding.

Baby's room is finished. Car seat is installed. Hospital bag is 50% packed. I think we're "ready." As ready as we can be...

I'm co-hosting one of my best friends bridal showers this weekend! She's a June bride...and her wedding festivities are just beginning! I was also asked to sing during the Survivor Ceremony at the Columbus Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure again this year. I was absolutely honored to be asked and would have been thrilled to participate, but guess what day the event is? May 19! Yep, I'm thinking {hoping} I'll have a newborn by then! I, begrudgingly, had to pass. BUT...I'm hoping our current Miss Ohio's Outstanding Teen can do it...the fabulous Kelsey Barrett!

We celebrated our third year of marriage last night by going back to the same restaurant where we ate right after we were engaged! Hadn't been there since...4 years ago!

So that's life right now. Patiently waiting for my little miracle to arrive.

Here we are pictured at 37 weeks, 5 days...my friend, Megan, took this at work yesterday!
Be Blessed...

I'm sorry I have not written on the blog since the middle of February. Life has really been busy, as you can imagine, making a baby and all!

We've had plenty of family events and birthdays. We began taking our "childbirth and education" classes...because you can never be "too prepared" to bring new life into the world; I celebrated my birthday, met up with Miss Ohio 2010 (Becky), started planning one of my best friends bridal showers, fixed dinner for a long lost friend many of you know (Kasey Wilson), had dinner with Miss Ohio 2011 (Ellen), and...just celebrated Baby A with our very own baby shower!

You've seen in posts below that we don't know Baby A's gender, so we are keeping everything very neutral with clothing and the nursery, etc. The neutral feel was carried over into the shower with turquoise and orange...and duckies!

We held the shower this past weekend and we are SO blessed. We can't thank everyone enough for making me, Steve and Baby A feel so loved. It makes us so happy to know that you are also excited for the arrival of this little miracle.

Saturday was full of family, friends, fun, laughter, food, gifts and overall enthusiasm to simply join together for Baby A. Baby amazes me everyday it grows. I can't fathom how he or she will be once they're "outside" the womb. It's going to be a blast!

This week marks the last of my bi-weekly doctor's appointments. I then begin seeing the doc on a weekly basis...only 6ish weeks left (give or take)! I will also be attending the second quarterly meeting for the BBB Center for Character and Ethics committee. Then...it's Easter!

In the coming weeks, I will be taking on less. Everything I read states to try to sleep and relax as much as possible before D-Day. PLUS, with all the goodies we received at the shower, we need the extra "down" time to figure out where we're going to put everything!

Me with grandma & Aunt Faye.
 Martha, Elizabeth & me.
My amazing Mansfield family. Chaperon, Phyllis & "host" mom, Lorrie!
Some of the girls, Crystal & Steph, with me, Aunt Kelly & Aunt Jamie!
 Two of the grandma's!
 All of the grandma's!

Oh, I need a post for our maternity photos! When I asked hubs about getting these pics, he said "Do I need to be there?" Haha.

Melissa Pauquette Photography snapped a couple shots of us and the baby belly a few weeks ago. I felt like I was cheating on Crystal Jo Foto, but she assured me it was "ok." CJO Foto will be taking our birth photos, newborn photos and family photos this year! So, I'm ok with "branching" out and trying someone different this one time. ;)

We spent an hour or so in the Short North area of Columbus. It was a beautiful sunny morning for our pictures. We think Melissa did a great job and we'll cherish these photos, which captured moments of us loving on our baby even before he or she is here, forever.

Hey! This is "My Life" and it's my blog...so I'm going to write about my baby! Today, let's talk about "the" nursery! It's still a work in progress. We have all the pieces and parts, we just need to put it all together now.

I posted a photo with a taste of nursery inspiration a while back. Here's everything coming to life a little...

Original ideas for fabric:

Fabric for curtains come to life:

My mamacita made these fabulous curtains!

Original idea for a chair:
The comfy glider we picked (this isn't "the" one but it looks almost identical):

My mama did not make this chair. ;)

We thought we wanted an all dark/espresso crib for baby, but still something clean-cut:

We ended up falling in love with this crib:
This is "the" crib, minus all the girly stuff (we think Baby A is a boy). Oh boy!

I'm also working on a cool wall art project for baby's room...which includes balloons and the alphabet! Dad will be working on the dresser which we all ready own. He's going to update the look slightly with new hardware and add a changing station! Will show before and after pics of that when it's done.

I don't know what's going on in pageant land...except that MY Miss America roommate is expecting, too! She's due TWO days after me! AND...OUR Miss America is getting married this summer! We plan to meet up in Michigan with our newborns and be each other's dates for the future Mrs. big day!

Tata for now...thanks for reading!
